Stafford Capital Partners (“Stafford”), a leading international private markets investment and advisory group, has appointed Marta Jankovic as Head of Sustainability. Marta assumes the role with immediate effect and will be based in Stafford’s Rotterdam office, reporting to CEO, Angus Whiteley.

Marta will work closely with Stafford’s Investment Committees as it drives the firm’s ongoing commitment to long-term, responsible investing across its alternative strategies. Marta will focus on shaping Stafford’s sustainable investing strategy, fostering engagement with clients, policy and industry stakeholders. She will drive the delivery of client sustainability objectives, from due diligence, to implementation, monitoring and reporting.

Marta brings over 15 years of investment industry experience to the role, where she has previously held senior advisory and directorship positions at global investment firms. Marta chaired the Board of Invest Europe and has been named in Financial News’ ‘100 Most Influential Women in Finance’.

Prior to Stafford, Marta was responsible for the delivery of client responsible investment policy objectives at APG Asset Management, representing the Responsible Investment team on the Committee for Investment Proposals, and later advised APG’s Private Markets teams on implementation of EU sustainability regulation (SFDR). Marta was also a Director in BlackRock’s Investment Stewardship team, where she was responsible for providing leadership on ESG research and insights, as well as voting and engaging with public companies in the EMEA region.

Commenting on the appointment, Angus Whiteley, Stafford’s CEO said: “As active investors, Stafford plays an important role in ensuring our investments align with industry best practice, environmental protection, human rights, and good governance in a way that will enhance and underpin the financial returns that our investors expect of us and add long term value to the community of which we are a part.

Marta’s experience, attitude and knowledge of the evolving policy environment when it comes to EU and global standards make her a wonderful addition to our experienced team. She is well placed to help guide our investment strategies and deliver on our clients’ responsible investment objectives. Marta’s experience will really consolidate the work we undertake in this space.”

Speaking about her appointment, Marta said: “Stafford has a long-standing track record of pursuing sustainability objectives in its investment practice. This is a highly valued opportunity for me to work closely with an investment manager who has embedded responsible investing from the ground-up and therefore has deep experience and appreciation of the importance of delivering sustainability strategies, both within its own business and for its clients.”
