In a significant move towards affordable housing, listed housebuilder Redrow has agreed to sell 249 new-build homes from its flagship London development, Colindale Gardens, to Barnet Council. The contracts have been exchanged, and the majority of these homes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, will be made available for affordable rent.

The properties are part of Redrow’s Colindale Gardens 4,000-home regeneration developments, reflecting a £2.14 billion turnover for the firm. This sale comes after Redrow’s strategic decision in 2020 to scale back its operations in London, focusing solely on the Colindale Gardens development amid profit warnings.

The Colindale Gardens project represents a significant part of Redrow’s continued commitment to the capital, even as the company decided to move away from other London ventures. The sale to Barnet Council aligns with the broader goals of providing affordable housing options in the region and contributes to the overall vision of regeneration in the area.
