Caddick Group, the developer behind the proposed Maltkiln project situated between York and Harrogate, has announced a public consultation event to be held in Kirk Hammerton next month.

Scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at Kirk Hammerton village hall from 2pm to 8pm, the event aims to provide the local community with an opportunity to review and discuss the proposed plans for Maltkiln directly with the development team.

The project outlines the potential construction of a minimum of 3,000 homes and two primary schools near the villages of Cattal, Whixley, Green Hammerton, and Kirk Hammerton, addressing what Caddick Group describes as an “acute housing shortage” in North Yorkshire.

The submission of North Yorkshire Council’s Maltkiln development plan document (DPD) to the government’s Planning Inspectorate this month precedes the consultation. According to Chris Procter, director at Caddick Group, the revised proposals for Maltkiln aim to incorporate enhancements to transport infrastructure, onsite amenities, and biodiversity net gain to foster a sustainable and connected community.

“As the DPD process draws to a conclusion, we want to re-engage with the community to seek their valuable feedback on our revised plans,” stated Procter.
