Sir Edward Leigh, the Conservative MP for Gainsborough, has recommended “the entire site” of RAF Scampton be considered for development, highlighting its potential for attracting £300 million in investment, marking a significant opportunity for the region.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Wednesday, May 1, Sir Edward emphasized the untapped potential of RAF Scampton, advocating for a redirection of focus towards expansive investment and development prospects. His call to action follows the government’s announcement 15 months ago regarding the site’s future use.

Acknowledging the ongoing negotiations between local authorities and the Home Office, Sir Edward wants to unlock the site’s regeneration potential.

Sir Edward urged the government to prioritize the release of RAF Scampton for Scampton Holdings Ltd’s ambitious £300 million regeneration initiative. He hailed the proposed project as a landmark opportunity for “levelling up” the region and revitalizing the former RAF base into a thriving hub of economic activity.

Tom Pursglove MP, commended Sir Edward’s advocacy efforts, affirming the government’s commitment to collaborating with local stakeholders to expedite regeneration endeavors. Pursglove echoed Sir Edward’s vision for realizing the long-term regeneration ambitions of RAF Scampton.
