The Highland Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee has approved the Local Development Plan Delivery Programme (IMFLDP2), which will guide the timing and location of development across the region. This programme will serve as a key tool for coordinating investment in Highland, ensuring that necessary infrastructure such as schools and transport is in place to support growth.

Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Committee, highlighted the importance of the programme, stating, “Growth is welcome but has impacts which need to be offset by new investment particularly in infrastructure capacity such as schools and transport.” He emphasised that the programme’s approval will help secure funding and align various investment opportunities to deliver essential infrastructure.

The next step involves launching a consultation on the Highland Delivery Programme, expanding input from local community groups and other stakeholders. The results of this consultation will be presented in early 2025, along with recommendations for further action.
