Hargreaves Land, the development arm of County Durham’s Hargreaves Services, has acquired Ptarmigan Land’s York office, incorporating its team into Hargreaves’ central regional office in Leeds. This move is expected to strengthen Hargreaves’ strategic land portfolio across northern England.

Hargreaves Land, which oversees more than 11,000 acres of future development land predominantly in northern England and Scotland, aims to expand its influence in the region. The company, part of the larger Hargreaves Services group with an annual revenue exceeding £210 million and a global workforce of 1,300, views this acquisition as an essential step towards realising its long-term growth objectives.

The acquisition sees Steve McBurney, previously with Ptarmigan, take on the role of Strategic Land Director at Hargreaves Land, while Craig Woolmer joins as Senior Strategic Land and Planning Manager. Both McBurney and Woolmer bring extensive experience in land acquisition, planning promotion, and land sales, crucial for navigating the competitive landscape of the northern market.
