The 40-acre Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park in Berkeley has been acquired by Chiltern Vital Berkeley Ltd (CVB), with plans to establish the UK’s first low carbon “super cluster” for nuclear research, education, and artificial intelligence.

The Berkeley site, once home to one of the world’s first civil nuclear power stations, played a crucial role in the development of the UK’s nuclear fuel programme. Now, the site is set to be transformed into a centre of excellence for small modular and micro reactor technology. This redevelopment could be a highlight at upcoming property networking events in the South West, given its potential impact on the region’s economy.

Chris Turner, Chief Executive of Chiltern Vital Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I am excited to close this acquisition and begin the first phase of Berkeley’s transformational redevelopment. CVG is already working with some of the world’s leading clean energy companies.”

The project involves partnerships with prominent institutions such as Rolls-Royce SMR, the University of Bristol, and the National College for Nuclear. As this ambitious initiative unfolds, it might be mentioned at construction networking events in Gloucestershire, especially as it could influence future infrastructure developments in the area.
