Sustainability and Net Zero: How UKREiiF 2025 Raised the Bar on Sustainability September 22nd, 2025 Mya Driver Every year, we strive to make UKREiiF as environmentally responsible as possible, integrating sustainable practices across every aspect of our operations. For 2025, we’ve introduced several exciting initiatives that reflect our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint while enhancing the experience for our delegates.Going Digital: Reducing Paper WasteOne of the biggest changes this year is the introduction of our mobile app. Not only does it enhance the delegate experience with easy access to schedules, speaker information, and live updates, but it also dramatically cuts down on paper use. In fact, we reduced printed programmes by 688,000 pages, a huge step towards a more sustainable event.Eco-Friendly MaterialsWe also upgraded our badge mailing pack by including an event map printed on premium biodegradable paper. This small change makes a significant difference in minimising waste while still providing delegates with a high-quality, practical resource.Understanding Our Carbon FootprintFor the first time, we reported on our carbon footprint. This report allows us to accurately measure our emissions, giving us the insights we need to manage and reduce our environmental impact in the years ahead.Smarter Energy UseIn 2025, we reduced our reliance on generators, even those using HVO fuel, by introducing a new power supply from the venue in the Pavilion Square Red Zone. Additionally, we’ve leveraged existing infrastructure to support the expanded Dock Water Pavilions site in the Pink Zone, further minimising energy demand.Supporting Communities and EducationSustainability extends beyond the environment to include social impact. This year, we saw a 600% increase in the number of Community Interest Companies (CICs) we support, particularly smaller businesses. We also funded coaches to bring over 200 students from London and Manchester, ensuring the next generation has access to industry insights and networking opportunities.Encouraging Reusable Water BottlesTo further reduce single-use plastics, we installed water stations across the site, allowing delegates to refill their bottles throughout the event. This simple initiative helps cut down on plastic waste while keeping everyone hydrated.
