The approval was confirmed by Stockport Council’s planning committee today.Led by ECF – a partnership between Muse, Legal & General, and Homes England – in joint venture with Stockport Council and supported by the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation, the scheme will transform an eight-acre site west of Stockport town centre, adjacent to the iconic Stockport Viaduct.The Stockport 8 scheme will create:Up to 1,300 new homes, with a mix of build-to-rent and owner-occupier properties, including energy-efficient apartments designed to meet net-zero standards. 82 affordable homes delivered in Phase 1. 1,573 sqm of commercial and community space, alongside approximately 9,500 sqft of ground-floor commercial units. A vibrant public realm, featuring a new public square, cycle lanes, green roofs, sustainable urban drainage systems, and significant tree planting to enhance biodiversity. The scheme has been designed to prioritise walkability and car-free living, contributing to a sustainable, modern town centre community.Timeline for DeliveryPhase 1: Construction will begin in 2026 with completion expected in 2028.
