Commercial: East of England Mission Street and BGO Secure Planning Consent for Landmark Life Sciences Development in Cambridge September 20th, 2024 Deividas Krupstas Mission Street, in partnership with BGO, has received planning approval from Cambridge City Council for an ambitious new life sciences development that will create a cutting-edge urban science district in the heart of the city. The project will span 23 acres and provide approximately 1 million square feet of gross internal area (GIA) across seven state-of-the-art buildings.The new development is designed to accommodate companies across various stages of growth, from startups to established multinationals, offering them the flexibility to scale within a single, integrated ecosystem. Just 10 minutes’ cycle from Cambridge’s central railway station, the site’s prime location will further cement Cambridge as a global hub for life sciences and innovation.The entire district will be fully pedestrianised and open to the public, with a central square acting as the focal point for the community. The development will include a range of facilities aimed at enhancing both business and public engagement, such as:Dedicated units for local businesses Fitness infrastructure to support health and well-being Enhanced play spaces for children Food and beverage offerings for local residents and workers Space for community events and gatheringsThe masterplan for the project has been led by the acclaimed architecture firm Hawkins\Brown, in collaboration with several other leading design practices. Following a positive decision from the Cambridge City Council planning committee, the project will now progress subject to Section 106 agreements and other planning conditions.
