Leeds City Council is on the threshold of endorsing an ambitious 10-year initiative with the support of national, regional, and local government bodies. This initiative, aimed at transforming six crucial neighbourhoods, is poised to foster inclusive growth across the city. The Leeds Transformational Regeneration Partnership, which includes collaboration with the central government, Homes England, and the West Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, is a testament to Leeds’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation.

Central to this regeneration effort are significant plans to revitalise areas such as Mabgate, Eastside & Hunslet Riverside, South Bank, Holbeck, West End Riverside, and the Innovation Arc. This strategic initiative is expected to pave the way for the development of 20,000 new homes, alongside major investment projects. These include £10 million earmarked for a new British Library site at Temple Works, £5 million for establishing a National Poetry Centre, and enhanced support for the Royal Armouries Museum’s expansion of its conferencing and exhibition capabilities.

The Leeds Transformational Regeneration Partnership is not just about physical redevelopment; it’s an opportunity for Leeds to further its legacy of successful large-scale infrastructure projects that drive regeneration and economic prosperity. Councillor James Lewis, the Leader of Leeds City Council, emphasized the partnership’s role in tackling structural city challenges, such as improving the housing market, enhancing public transport, and leveraging Leeds’s economic, innovation, and cultural assets.

Moreover, this partnership announcement comes at a pivotal time as Leeds prepares to host the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF). UKREiiF, returning to Leeds due to its critical acclaim and success in facilitating industry connections, stands as a prominent platform to showcase the region’s potential. The forum is anticipated to attract thousands of delegates and industry leaders, providing an unparalleled opportunity to highlight the transformative projects underway in Leeds and across West Yorkshire.

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin has also expressed support for the partnership and the upcoming UKREiiF event.
