Salboy, a leading property development and funding company, has initiated a public consultation for the next phase of its Viadux scheme, a landmark urban development in central Manchester. In collaboration with construction partner DOMIS, Salboy is set to introduce two new towers, marking a significant step in the project’s evolution.

The ambitious plan includes a 76-storey tower comprising approximately 780 apartments, offering a luxurious living experience for both domestic and international buyers. This tower, notable for its architectural innovation, is designed to integrate seamlessly with a preserved Victorian archway, adding a unique aesthetic to Manchester’s skyline.

Additionally, the scheme includes a 23-storey building that will provide around 130 affordable homes. This development is tailored to meet a range of housing needs, offering various tenure types such as shared ownership and affordable rentals.

These residential buildings form part of a broader vision to establish a mixed-use, world-class neighbourhood at the heart of Manchester. The base of the towers will feature commercial and public spaces, contributing to the economic and environmental vibrancy of the city centre.

The Viadux scheme aligns with the changing urban landscape, where the demand for high-quality residential spaces is overtaking the need for office spaces. This shift is particularly pronounced in UK city centres, including Manchester.

Simon Ismail, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Salboy, emphasises the project’s commitment to meeting Manchester’s growing need for diverse housing options. He points out the importance of being adaptable and forward-thinking in urban development, especially for projects that span several years.

The first phase of the Viadux project, a 40-storey tower with 364 apartments, is well on its way to completion in the second quarter of 2024. Remarkably, over 95% of these properties have already been sold or reserved as of November 2023, demonstrating the project’s appeal and success.

Salboy’s Viadux scheme is set to be a defining feature of Manchester, offering a range of housing options and enhancing the city’s cultural and historical landscape.
