North West UKREiiF Congratulates Eamonn Boylan for Exceptional Service and Driving Development & Investment October 20th, 2023 Mya Driver Eamonn Boylan, Chief Executive of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Chief Executive of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), has announced his intention to retire after a commendable 42-year stint in public service. He has been at the forefront of numerous pivotal changes and improvements throughout his career, which encompasses notable roles in Manchester, Sheffield, and London.His stewardship of GMCA and TfGM has seen both organisations undergo significant transformations, navigating challenges such as the Manchester Arena terrorist attack and the Covid crisis, whilst also leading groundbreaking initiatives like the Trailblazer devolution deal and the Bee Network’s integrated public transport system.Eamonn Boylan, reflecting on his journey, said, “The last six-and-a-half years leading the Combined Authority, and four years leading Transport for Greater Manchester, have been the most challenging but also the most enjoyable in my career. I am immensely proud of what we have created together in Greater Manchester, and I hope that we continue to grow and prosper and make this city-region the best place to get on, grow up and get old.”Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, praised Boylan’s contributions, stating, “This is a sad day for GMCA and TfGM and for me personally. Eamonn has been a great support to me since I first took office in May 2017.
