A three-storey office building located at 16 Millbank Street, described as being in ‘disrepair’, is poised for demolition if plans are sanctioned.

The property, situated in an industrial zone, has recently come under the ownership of Silmir Investments Ltd. The company has expressed intentions to dismantle the structure due to its deteriorating state.

In a statement accompanying their planning permission application, Silmir Investments Ltd remarked, “The building is currently in a condition that makes refurbishment unfeasible. For safety reasons and to ensure a viable future use of the site, it’s essential to demolish the existing building.”

While the office building’s fate hangs in the balance, a neighbouring two-storey commercial structure will remain untouched.

The surrounding locale is defined by various commercial industrial structures. Contrasting this, Millbank Street’s opposite side predominantly features residential units, mainly social housing.

A verdict on the demolition request is anticipated by Southampton City Council on or before October 24.
