Maidenhead’s Nicholsons Broadway Car Park, which has been closed since December 2022 due to structural concerns, is slated for demolition. The decision comes after parts of the car park’s ceiling collapsed, prompting its closure for health and safety reasons. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead council has approved the demolition, with the process expected to span approximately six months.

The site, which previously served as a primary parking facility for the Nicholsons Shopping Centre and the broader Maidenhead town center, is also part of a larger regeneration plan for the shopping center. This plan received planning consent in October 2022. The demolition will encompass several stores along King Street, and during the process, Broadway will experience a one-week road closure to ensure the safe removal of the car park’s circular access ramp.

Following the demolition, the council intends to convert the site into a temporary ground-floor car park, pending further redevelopment plans. This presents a prime opportunity for developers to envision and execute a transformative project that can enhance the urban landscape of Maidenhead, capitalizing on the site’s strategic location and the town’s ongoing regeneration efforts.
