A substantial development opportunity has emerged on the edge of the South Downs National Park, with a 78.6-hectare site across Hamsey and Cooksbridge, north of Lewes, being considered for the construction of 1,100 homes.

Lewes District Council is conducting an assessment of land suitable for new housing developments, with a public consultation scheduled to begin on November 29.

This proposal represents a significant chance for housing expansion in the area, aligning with the council’s Local Plan to guide future development. Residents will soon have the opportunity to share their views on this prospective development through the council’s consultation process.
