A £100m regeneration plan of the Longfield Centre site in Prestwich has been approved by Bury Council.

Members of the Council’s Planning Control Committee voted in favour to approve the proposal on 23rd July 2024.

The plans will see new spaces for community facilities and around 200 new homes at the site new Bury New Road. Following a consultation of two stages, an additional provision for live event spaces as well as market hall and more green spaces have been put in place.

The plans were put forward by a joint venture between Muse and Bury Council.

Cllr Eamonn O’Brien, Leader of Bury Council, said: “These are truly transformative plans which will reshape Prestwich village – from new housing to shops, leisure facilities and a better living environment.

“Regeneration of our town centres is a crucial part of ensuring that the whole of our borough can prosper and thrive for many generations to come, and we’re looking forward to working with our partners to bring the new Prestwich to life.”
