Plans Submitted for £75m Residential Development in Manchester May 30th, 2024 Mya Driver JRL Group, in partnership with Central and Urban, has submitted plans for a £75 million residential scheme near Piccadilly station in Manchester.Designed by SimpsonHaugh, the 28-storey development will feature 359 build-to-rent apartments and townhouses, offering one, two, and three-bedroom units on the corner of Sparkle Street and Store Street. CBRE’s viability appraisal confirms the project’s cost.Midgard, JRL’s construction arm, is set to deliver the project. The development aims to enhance the growing momentum in the surrounding area, which includes Property Alliance Group’s Oxygen tower and the proposed gold tower by M1 Piccadilly. The Mayfield project, costing £400 million for its first phase alone, is also nearby.JRL Group, active in Manchester since 2018, is currently working on CDL Hospitality Trusts’ Castings scheme. Central and Urban, known for its hotel projects like the StayCity aparthotel in Ancoats and a Maldron hotel off Oxford Road, is now venturing into residential developments in the city.The developers consulted on the scheme last July and have now submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council.
