Panattoni, the logistics property developer, has recently acquired an extra 10 acres of land in Swale, Kent, escalating its total investment in the region to £170 million. This new acquisition is part of an ambitious plan to establish a 36-acre logistics park in Sittingbourne, aiming for net zero carbon emissions.

The initial phase of construction at Panattoni Park Sittingbourne began recently, featuring two logistics units sized 440,000 sq ft and 205,000 sq ft. These are slated for completion by March 2025.

The additional land purchase allows for potential development plans for up to 128,000 sq ft of extra commercial space, pending planning approval. These developments could commence later this year with an anticipated completion by the third quarter of 2025.

Tony Watkins, head of development for the South East and London at Panattoni, commented on the expansion: “The acquisition of the additional 10 acres reflects the attractiveness of the location, with demand for high quality logistics facilities continuing to outstrip supply across Kent and the South East.”

He added, “It’s part of our strategy to acquire land to provide highly efficient distribution premises with high energy performance, from which industry-leading companies can serve London and the South East. We’ll now be able to create a home for even more jobs, up from the 1,069 we originally expected, which is great news for Swale and the local community.”

The project emphasises sustainability, with all units featuring roof-mounted photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points. Panattoni Park Sittingbourne is strategically located between London and Dover, enhancing connectivity to major transport routes, including the M2, M20, and M25 motorways, and is within easy reach of the port of Dover.
