Native Land has launched South Bank Opus, a new 50-storey residential tower at Bankside Yards that marks a major strategic move into London’s super-prime riverside market. The building, known as Opus, is the first residential element within the wider Bankside Yards regeneration and establishes the South Bank as a new focal point for high-end urban living.

Opus is set to rise to around 170 metres and will deliver approximately 249 apartments, ranging from studios to expansive lateral homes and penthouses. Designed as a landmark tower next to Tate Modern, the building targets global luxury buyers and renters through its architectural quality, hotel-style services and extensive amenities. These include floor-to-ceiling glazing, a high proportion of corner units with dual-aspect skyline views, and a comprehensive wellness, leisure and co-working offer. Residents will also have immediate access to the wider Bankside Yards amenities, including a planned Mandarin Oriental hotel.

The launch of Opus represents a significant commitment by Native Land, positioning the tower as the residential flagship within the 1.4m sq ft mixed-use scheme. The project carries a gross development value in the hundreds of millions of pounds, with early sales surpassing £100m. This scale underlines the developer’s confidence in demand for prime new-build homes in central London, despite limited supply in the segment.

Bankside Yards is designed as the UK’s first major fossil-fuel-free mixed-use development in operation, powered by a fifth-generation energy-sharing network across eight buildings. Opus forms a key part of this sustainability-focused vision, linking the South Bank’s cultural destinations with a new district offering public realm, dining and retail spaces within restored railway arches, and improved pedestrian connectivity between Royal Festival Hall and Tate Modern.

By delivering a statement tower with a branded, amenity-rich and sustainability-led specification, Native Land is helping redefine the South Bank as a core prime residential location. The launch of South Bank Opus signals the developer’s intention to play a leading role in shaping the next generation of luxury living in central London.
