Muse has been selected as the private-sector development partner for the long-planned £4 billion regeneration of Bristol’s Temple Quarter, encompassing Temple Meads West and St Philip’s Marsh.

The appointment gives Muse the lead role in redeveloping Temple Meads West, the area on the western side of Bristol Temple Meads station that forms the central focus of Phase 1 of the Temple Quarter programme. The mandate also includes St Philip’s Marsh, a 90-hectare site east of the station designated for large-scale housing and employment growth in later phases.

The Bristol Temple Quarter project is set to transform around 130–135 hectares of brownfield land, delivering at least 10,000 new homes and creating over 22,000 jobs. Once fully built, the scheme is expected to generate approximately £1.6 billion in annual economic activity for the city region.

The redevelopment is being driven by Bristol Temple Quarter LLP, a joint venture of Bristol City Council, Homes England, the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, and Network Rail, which coordinate development and manage pooled land assets. The public-sector partners have already secured a £95 million government grant for enabling infrastructure, including new station entrances and upgrades to Bristol Temple Meads.

With a development partner now in place, the next steps include finalising a detailed development agreement, refining the masterplan for Temple Meads West, and submitting planning applications for the first plots. Early phases will prioritise new homes, commercial space, and transport and public-realm improvements around the station, unlocking the wider £4 billion programme over time.

Muse will also have a dedicated presence at The UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) 2026, showcasing its role in delivering one of the UK’s most significant city-centre regeneration projects and engaging with industry stakeholders on future development opportunities.
