Leeds is poised to welcome a transformative housing project, Spinners Yard, following the agreement of a £22 million funding package between Gresham House and Leumi UK. The initiative promises to revitalise the Mabgate area of Leeds city centre, turning a long-neglected brownfield site into a vibrant community hub with 185 new homes.

The ambitious project will offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom flats, each designed with modern living in mind. Residents will benefit from an array of on-site amenities including a gym, a communal lounge area, and a rooftop garden, aimed at fostering a strong sense of community.

Clegg Construction, alongside Rise Homes, a development business backed by Gresham House, will spearhead the construction efforts. This venture not only underscores the growing appeal of Leeds as a city but also highlights the commitment to sustainable urban development.

Further bolstering the project, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority has extended grant funding through its Brownfield Housing Fund. This initiative supports the redevelopment of derelict sites into vibrant new housing, underscoring the region’s dedication to revitalising urban spaces and providing much-needed housing solutions.

This collaboration between Gresham House and Leumi UK marks their second joint venture, following the successful completion of the Ironworks BTR development in Sheffield. Joe Thomas, Investment Director at Gresham House, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s potential to deliver affordable, high-quality rental accommodation in Leeds. Similarly, Gez O’Sullivan, Relationship Director at Leumi UK, praised Gresham House’s expertise in the build-to-rent sector and the anticipated positive impact of the Spinners Yard development.

As Leeds looks forward to the completion of this pivotal project, Spinners Yard is set to become a key milestone in the city’s ongoing transformation, offering a blueprint for sustainable urban development and community living.
