Kao Data, the specialist developer and operator of advanced, sustainable data centres engineered for AI, cloud, and high-performance computing (HPC), today announced plans for a significant expansion of its Harlow campus. Building on the successful commissioning of KLON-01 and KLON-02, the company will deliver two new industrial-scale data centres to meet rapidly growing demand from enterprise and research sectors.

The most recently announced facility, KLON-03, will provide 17.6MW of capacity and integrate advanced cooling systems designed for hybrid and liquid-cooled deployments. These innovations will be critical to supporting high-density GPU workloads and next-generation AI research. A fourth facility is also planned, fulfilling the campus’s original vision as a four-building hub for world-class digital infrastructure.

With the addition of KLON-03 and its sister facility, Kao Data’s Harlow campus will continue to strengthen its role as a strategic destination for advanced computing. The site already hosts NVIDIA’s Cambridge-1 supercomputer, alongside a growing ecosystem of organisations in financial services, life sciences, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.

The expansion will also advance Kao Data’s sustainability goals, incorporating direct-to-chip liquid cooling, high rack densities, and hybrid-cooled containment suites. These technologies will enable greater energy efficiency while accommodating the extreme power and thermal demands of modern AI and HPC workloads.

Supported by long-term investment from Infratil, Legal & General, and Goldacre, Kao Data’s growth trajectory continues to reinforce its position as a trusted and innovative force within the London data centre market and across Europe.

This expansion underscores the company’s mission to scale digital infrastructure in line with the UK government’s ambitions for AI leadership, ensuring the country remains at the forefront of global technological advancement.
