The submitted application details indicate that the demolition, situated on a primary route into and out of the town centre, will be executed in a structured manner to ensure minimal disruption. During the demolition process, the site will be securely cordoned off.A tree impact survey has revealed that while the existing trees on the site won’t be removed, there will be a 30% reduction in their crowns to prevent any potential harm to them.This move is in line with Knowsley Council’s masterplan for the town centre’s redevelopment, initially conceived in 2017 and subsequently updated in 2020 to incorporate crucial specifics. As part of the ongoing preparatory activities, the council is currently conducting surveys and site evaluations at four town centre car parks.Under the proposed plans, Derby Road is set to become both the “anchor” and “signature street”, serving as a central attraction for the town centre. Additionally, there’s a proposal to demolish a multi-storey car park to make room for a diverse leisure development along the area.
