The Cabinet meeting scheduled for March 12 will see members discuss the formal acceptance of this substantial investment from the Levelling Up Fund, aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and boosting economic growth.The funding package includes £16.5 million dedicated to the redevelopment of Huddersfield Open Market, aiming for completion by 2026. Additionally, the Penistone railway line is set to receive nearly £48 million for major upgrades, improving transport links and connectivity. The Dewsbury Blueprint will benefit from a £20 million injection, supporting the town’s comprehensive regeneration strategy. Furthermore, an initial £17 million has been earmarked for the development of the West Yorkshire Life Sciences Investment Zone, focusing on the Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor initiative led by Kirklees Council.These projects were selected for funding following successful bids submitted by the council to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities (DLUHC), demonstrating the local authority’s commitment to securing investment for the area’s future. This financial boost follows earlier rounds of funding which supported the Batley and Marsden Blueprints, receiving £12 million and £5.6 million respectively.The planned projects represent a wide range of development initiatives, including large-scale building renovations, public transport infrastructure improvements, and investment in local industries.
