HBD submits plans for £16.5m expansion at Airport Business Park Southend August 26th, 2025 Mya Driver HBD has submitted plans to expand Airport Business Park Southend with proposals for a 70,911 sq ft industrial and logistics development designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).The £16.5 million scheme will deliver ten new units, including nine ranging from 4,459 sq ft to 9,872 sq ft and a single detached unit of 16,451 sq ft. The expansion is designed to provide flexible, modern workspace and infrastructure tailored to the needs of growing businesses.Subject to planning permission, construction is expected to begin in summer 2026. Airport Business Park Southend is a partnership between HBD, part of Henry Boot, and Southend City Council, which has already delivered more than 355,000 sq ft of workspace at the site.All units in the new phase will be built to BREEAM Excellent standards, reflecting the strong demand for sustainable commercial space. The expansion follows the success of existing facilities at the business park, where high SME occupancy has driven additional development.Current occupiers at Airport Business Park Southend include IPECO, CAMA AssetStore, and The Event Co. The site has established itself as a leading location for growing companies and is set to continue its growth as a major industrial and logistics hub in the region.
