Manchester-based Great Places Housing Group has acquired 51 homes from Vistry Group in Greater Manchester. The purchase includes 27 shared ownership homes at The Fairways in Brackley Village, Salford, and 24 homes at Calico Grove in Castleton, Rochdale.

The Fairways development, managed by Sigma under its Simple Life Homes brand, features a total of 138 private rented sector homes and 180 open market homes sold by Vistry’s Countryside Homes brand. The recent acquisition brings Great Places’ ownership at this site to 27 homes.

At Calico Grove, located on the former Royle Works site, the acquisition means Great Places now owns 126 of the 222 homes in the development. All acquired apartments will be available for affordable rent.

Joe Turner, Managing Director of Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, stated, “Both of our organisations are committed to delivering more mixed-tenure, affordable homes, and by working together on these two sites we can offer more housing choice to local people and help meet Greater Manchester’s pressing need for affordable housing.”

Nick Gornall, Director of Development at Great Places, added, “Affordable housing continues to be a key priority in all of the areas we operate in, and Vistry shares our ongoing commitment to creating great homes across a wide variety of communities. Our acquisition of 27 shared ownership homes at The Fairways and 24 homes at Calico Grove is part of this commitment to provide much-needed affordable housing options.”

The affordable homes at The Fairways are expected to be completed by summer 2024, with the Calico Grove apartments scheduled for completion by summer 2025.
