The North Taunton Woolaway Project, steered by Somerset Council, recently secured a £5 million grant from the central government, promising a faster pace of development. This initiative aims to replace 162 outdated residences in Priorswood with 229 low-carbon council houses, and refurbish 27 more.

The funding, channelled through Homes England’s affordable housing programme, is set to expedite several phases of the project, facilitating the provision of a variety of bungalows, houses, and flats. This substantial funding marks a crucial step towards alleviating social deprivation in North Taunton by enhancing the availability of affordable housing.
