Two neglected plots of land in Sunderland are poised for transformation into vibrant housing communities, courtesy of a substantial £3.1 million grant from the government.

The ambitious projects located at Carley Hill and Farringdon Row have secured the funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, funnelled through the Brownfield Land Release Fund 2 (BLRF2), under the One Public Estate (OPE) Programme. A total of 255 homes are envisaged across these sites.

This initiative is part of Sunderland City Council’s broader vision to augment housing options and meet the burgeoning demand for quality residences in the area.
