UKREiiF: Scotland Glasgow City Council Advances Exciting Development Framework for Greater Pollok, Prepares for UKREiiF Involvement December 6th, 2023 Mya Driver In the lead-up to its involvement in The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), Glasgow City Council has announced the launch of a public consultation for the Greater Pollok Local Development Framework (LDF). This initiative is part of the council’s commitment to guiding future development in the region, with a focus on areas such as transport, housing, retail, community facilities, and green spaces. The framework, aiming for completion by 2035 and possibly extending to 2050, will integrate into Glasgow’s City Development Plan upon adoption.The consultation period, open from 21 November 2023 to 5 February 2024, invites contributions from local residents, businesses, and stakeholders, ensuring a wide range of perspectives for the Greater Pollok area’s growth.This framework is in line with Glasgow City Council’s broader strategy for potential development projects. The council’s active participation in the City Deal Glasgow initiative, a £400 million urban renewal programme, is transforming key areas of the city. This programme focuses on regenerating regions like the city centre, Sighthill, the canal area, Collegelands, Calton, Barras, and the Clyde waterfront along with the west end.The City Deal Glasgow is projected to significantly enhance the local economy, expecting to increase Glasgow City Region’s Gross Value Added (GVA) by £2.2 billion per annum (4.4%). It also aims to create 15,000 construction jobs during the build period and 28,000 permanent jobs thereafter, alongside stimulating £3.3 billion in private sector investment.These developments represent promising opportunities for investors and developers.
