Education Estates: Scotland Plans submitted for replacement school and community campus in Edinburgh September 12th, 2022 Mya Driver The City of Edinburgh Council has submitted plans for its Liberton Community Campus to replace the current high school and deliver a new public library and café, sports facilities, workspaces for council and Police Scotland staff as well as a GP surgery.The council proposes to build an education and community facility which is “both flexible and utilised all year round” in order to respond to the needs of the local community and maximise the use of the land available.Both the building and its site will act as a ‘Community Campus’ that will cater to all for years to come, supporting pupils and the local community, it added.The masterplan will include a zone for a second three-storey secondary school in case the council decides to build a GME secondary school in the future at the site of the existing Liberton High School.The campus will also include a large-scale NHS Primary Care facility, community library, community cafe and fitness facilities, flexible multi-purpose spaces, spaces for use by external community & authority agencies and Police Scotland accommodation.
