Construction: Development Opportunities on the Horizon in Flintshire? July 5th, 2024 David Gilbank Development opportunities could be on the horizon in Flintshire as the county council invites residents to participate in early-stage public consultations, signalling development opportunities for four town centres: Connah’s Quay, Flint, Mold, and Queensferry. The local authority is encouraging residents to contribute to the creation of seven ‘Place Making Plans’ for town centres across Flintshire over the next two years. These plans will outline a vision for each town, identify actions to improve vibrancy and attractiveness, and highlight opportunities for stakeholders to collaborate on delivering enhancements. This initiative responds to the Welsh Government’s request for all local authorities to establish Place Making Plans, which is now a condition for receiving investment to support town centre regeneration projects.Councillor David Healey, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economy, said: “As with many towns across the country, Flintshire’s high streets have changed considerably over recent years due to changes in shopping habits and the global pandemic. It is now opportune to review how our town centres can be revitalised and identify how local people and our local economy can benefit from positive change and investment in the future.”Earlier this year, local residents and workers in Connah’s Quay, Flint, Mold, and Queensferry had the opportunity to participate in an online survey about their town centres. The public consultations are part of an ongoing effort to ensure community involvement in the regeneration and future planning of Flintshire’s town centres, paving the way for future development opportunities.
