The Fife Cabinet Committee Councillors have unanimously approved the £1.4 million demolition of the 40-year-old Rothesay House, a former council administrative office building.

This decision, aimed at cost-saving and paving the way for redevelopment opportunities, aligns with Fife Council’s ambition for regional regeneration and sustainable property management.

The demolition, funded from the corporate contingencies budget, is expected to commence between March and August 2024. The cleared site is anticipated to attract private sector investment, supporting economic recovery, increased housing supply, and community wealth building as part of the broader Plan for Fife.
