Housing & Residential: South East Chelmsford’s Local Plan Consultation Sets Stage for 1,000 New Homes Annually March 7th, 2024 Mya Driver Chelmsford City Council is moving forward with the next stage of its Local Plan consultation, aiming to guide the city’s development until 2041 and accommodate the need for 1,000 new homes each year. The plan, to be finalized and adopted in 2026, will outline land allocation for development through to 2041.Scheduled for review by the council board on 14 March 2024, the ‘Preferred Options’ document and an Integrated Impact Assessment will pave the way for public consultations in May and June 2024. This effort aims to gather a wide range of perspectives to inform the final plan.Addressing the expected 11% population growth from 2021 to 2041, the Local Plan focuses on creating adequate housing, fostering job opportunities, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
