Blackpool FC has received the necessary approvals to develop a state-of-the-art training facility on an 87-acre plot off Garstang Road, situated between Blackpool and Poulton-le-Fylde. The project, aimed at providing Premier League-standard facilities, required permissions from both Wyre Council and Blackpool Council due to the site’s geographical location.

Wyre Council’s planning committee granted its approval in April, covering the majority of the development. This week, Blackpool Council’s planning committee gave the final green light for the remaining elements under its jurisdiction, including car parking for 120 vehicles.

The new facility will feature a two-storey building, an indoor pitch, 10 outdoor pitches, rooms for ground staff, and various infrastructure enhancements such as floodlighting and footpaths. The approval by Wyre Council included a Section 106 legal agreement, ensuring financial contributions towards improving public rights of way.

The project team, led by AFL Architects, includes PWA, Miller Goodall, Groundsure, AEC, MJMC, Miro Drainage, Milieu, Lexington, Hannan Associates, ERAP, Walker Sime, O’Neil and Partners, and Nationwide CDM.

This ambitious development project is expected to be a hot topic at upcoming property networking events in Blackpool and Poulton-le-Fylde, showcasing the region’s growing investment in sports infrastructure. It will undoubtedly be mentioned at investment networking events in the North West, highlighting the strategic collaboration between the club and local councils.
