Housing & Residential: South East Billericay 750 Homes Development Plans Announced July 11th, 2024 Mya Driver Image: Gleeson LandPlans are underway for the construction of over 750 homes in Billericay’s green belt. Gleeson Land has submitted an application to Basildon Council for 250 homes on land off Laindon Road.This proposal follows recent applications from Broadway Malyan for 380 homes on Greens Farm Lane and Scott Properties for 130 homes and a Lidl on London Road.Councillor Phil Turner of Billericay West commented on the developments, noting the preference of developers for green belt land due to its cost-effectiveness.The new development on Laindon Road will feature a mix of market and affordable housing to meet local demand. The design and access statement highlights the benefits of this project, stating that it will “make a worthwhile contribution toward the ever-growing housing requirement of this area.”These proposals are currently under consideration by Basildon Council.
