Mount Anvil join forces with Riverside Group to regenerate Isle of Dogs May 29th, 2024 Mya Driver Mount Anvil and The Riverside Group have exchanged contracts to enter into a joint venture for the delivery of the regeneration of the Tiller Road Estate on the Isle of Dogs. This follows Mount Anvil’s selection as the preferred development partner. The scheme will be Mount Anvil’s and The Riverside Group’s second estate regeneration scheme in the area, bolstering the delivery of quality homes for local residents. The regeneration proposal aims to deliver over 300 new homes within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It will include new affordable and private homes, in addition to the supply of 72 high quality homes for current residents to replace those in the three existing buildings: Kedge House, Starboard Way and Winch House. The scheme expands Mount Anvil’s partnership with The Riverside Group, following the developer’s previous appointment to deliver 218 new homes as part of the regeneration of the nearby Bellamy Close and Byng Street Estate. The partnership’s growing delivery portfolio also includes new affordable homes at the Friars Close Estate in Southwark, and 262 affordable homes as part of an 854-home masterplan at Royal Eden Docks in Newham.According to social value measurement partners, HACT, Mount Anvil and Riverside are forecast to deliver over £4.5m in social value for the Isle of Dogs alongside local partners. To date this has included initiatives like basketball-led youth engagement with the London Lions, community health and wellbeing collaborations with local group The Happy Hub, youth science and nature programmes in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and supporting the Island Advice Centre’s employment and skills programmes. This joint venture partnership is part of Riverside’s ongoing commitment to a resident-led approach to regeneration that focusses on collaboration with the local community. To date Riverside have conducted 160 one-to-one meetings, 18 steering group meetings and 5 consultation events, leading to 98% of the resident community submitting feedback on the outline proposals. A resident’s ballot on the regeneration proposals saw 88% of the resident community vote in favour of a full redevelopment, in a turnout of 94%.A key factor in Mount Anvil’s appointment as preferred partner was its track record in delivering affordable homes in London while working in strong partnerships to deliver quality places that meet the unique needs of local communities. In keeping with this approach, the joint venture partners will be building on Riverside’s success to date by working closely with residents and the wider community on the design of the scheme, which will be submitted for planning permission later this year. Leanne Ward, Chair of the Kedge House, Starboard Way and Winch House Residents Steering Group, said: “The residents are excited to start working alongside Mount Anvil to design their future homes. This is a massive step for us, and we look forward to working together as a community.”Darragh Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Mount Anvil, said: “I’m grateful that our repeat partners The Riverside Group have continued to put their trust in us to deliver for their residents. We share their commitment to providing high quality housing for all residents across London while creating outstanding places for communities to thrive in. We’ll be working hard to repay their trust here in the Isle of Dogs, and build on it by delivering a scheme that not only meets, but exceeds their residents’ expectations.”Jehan Weerasinghe, Managing Director of One Housing, part of The Riverside Group said: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with Mount Anvil as we continue our regeneration work on the Island. It is great to have a partner that supports the volume of resident involvement we have been and are undertaking. The active engagement by the local regeneration team has led to a ballot where 88% voted in favour of regeneration, with a turnout of 94%.
