IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to enhance its footprint with the addition of nine new hotels, introducing over 1,000 guest rooms to its diverse collection. This expansion spans five distinct brands within the hospitality giant’s portfolio, including Hotel Indigo, voco hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites, underscoring IHG’s commitment to growth in these key markets.

The new signings cover a broad spectrum of IHG’s market segments, from Luxury & Lifestyle to Premium, Essentials, and Suites. This strategic expansion aims to cater to a wide range of guests, from domestic to international travellers, and from those on business trips to those seeking leisure breaks.

Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, at IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed enthusiasm about the new additions, highlighting the trust and confidence hotel owners place in IHG to develop and launch successful properties. “This expansion reflects our ongoing investment in the UK and Ireland, a critical market for us, and showcases the continued demand from travellers for the unique experiences offered by IHG’s brands,” Geels commented.

Among the notable developments is the Hotel Indigo Gloucester – The Forum, a luxury property set to open its doors later this year, featuring 131 rooms, a neighbourhood restaurant, and a rooftop cocktail bar. The premium segment will see several introductions, including voco Salisbury with 57 rooms, voco Belfast as the brand’s debut in Northern Ireland this summer, and voco Leicester, transitioning from the Hotel Brooklyn Leicester, to reopen mid-2024. Additional premium offerings include voco Manchester and voco The Clifton Folkestone, both set for launch in the latter half of 2024.

The Essentials and Suites segments will also see significant growth, with the Holiday Inn Wrexham debuting as the first IHG-branded hotel in North Wales early in 2025, alongside the Holiday Inn Express Reading Oxford Road. Furthermore, the Staybridge Suites Belfast is expected to open in late 2027 as part of the Bedford Yard development, adding to the Suites category.

This ambitious expansion strengthens IHG’s presence in its home market, which is also its largest across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, and reflects the brand’s dedication to offering exceptional hospitality experiences across the UK and Ireland.
