The housing association Home Group plans to build 28 bungalows and 12 two-bedroom houses at affordable rents.

Home Group has sent the plans to Copeland Council for the project at land off Fell View Avenue and Windermere Road.

The scheme promises 24 two-bedroom bungalows, four three-bedroom bungalows and 12 two-bedroom houses.

According to a spokesperson: “the project aims to provide an attractive, affordable and secure development, with dwellings which appeal to young couples, families and older residents. The layout and dwelling design aims to respond to its context, such that it complements the existing community.”

The proposal is inked in for the Woodhouse area, 1.3m away from Whitehaven town centre close to the A595. The site itself used to be occupied by housing, demolished 10 years ago with the land now used as informal leisure space.

Copeland Council’s reference number for the application is 4/22/2359/0F1.
