The UK Business Council for Sustainable Development’s ‘Beyond Net Zero’ pavilion is set to be the centre of attention at UKREiiF.

The pavilion – being run in partnership with the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and sponsored by Sir Robert McAlpine and Keyland Developments – has assembled a high-quality cast of private- and public-sector development and placemaking experts who will inspire and inform during three days of knowledge sharing and debate.

The focus will be on going beyond a mere commitment to net zero and looking at all aspects of sustainable growth, and the role different partners can play in an effective enviro-economic strategy for cities, towns and places.

Keynote speakers will include West Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin, Landscape Institute president, Jane Findlay, and Mike Emmerich, the founding director of Metro Economics, and a former member of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit, where he held the brief for local government, housing and planning.

Jason Longhurst, chair of UK Business Council for Sustainable Development and strategic director of place at Bradford Council, will host a “head-to-head” with The Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees on the national challenges of going beyond net zero.

The panel events will cover a wide range of topics including the role of digital development in creating a clean economy, how business can help unlock rapid clean growth, the future of sustainable housing, and the importance of making sure equality and inclusion is built into future strategies.
