Romford’s Labour Councillor, Jane Keane, has voiced her support for Havering Council’s initiative to engage with residents regarding the forthcoming Romford Masterplan. The Masterplan is set to outline potential changes to Romford Town Centre, focusing on objectives such as economic growth, sustainable communities, and improved infrastructure.

Councillor Keane emphasised the importance of preserving Romford’s unique blend of thriving communities and economic opportunities. She stated, “Romford has thrived for hundreds of years precisely because it blends thriving communities with economic opportunity. Some parties or local authorities might think it suitable to build housing estates in the middle of nowhere, or out-of-town shopping precincts that restrict access for those who don’t drive.”

The consultation process, initiated by Havering Council, aims to gather input from residents to shape the future of Romford in alignment with their needs and aspirations. Councillor Keane highlighted the significance of resident involvement in this process.

Residents are encouraged to participate in both in-person events and online consultations to ensure their voices are heard. Further details about the consultation process and how to participate can be found at the Havering Council website.
