Moda Group have submitted proposals for a new neighbourhood, which is part of the New Garden Square project, in Birmingham. Landowner, Calthorpe Estates have supported the submission of plans.

The plans include the construction of 462, one to three bedroom apartments. The 37-storey building will include a 24-hour gym, co-working space, a roof terrace, resident lounges and 230 new bicycle storage spaces.

Ralph Minott, Masterplanning and Development Director, Calthorpe Estates, said: “We are delighted to see the planning submission for further regeneration of the New Garden Square land, and the next phase of our partnership with Moda Living. The New Garden Square masterplan reinforces our commitment to Birmingham’s Future City framework, putting residential and business communities at the heart of our vision for Edgbaston by ensuring green and active neighbourhoods for multi-generational living, health and wellbeing.”

Phase one of the New Garden Square masterplan is already under construction and will see the delivery of almost 400 homes for rent on the market later this year.

Moda have announced their plans to deliver a new community with up to 1,600 homes and £6 million of public realm at New Garden Square. This masterplan will see new parks, retail spaces, units for cafes, bars and restaurants alongside community amenities and workspaces.

James Blakey, Planning and Engagement Director at Moda Group, said: “These plans represent a huge step forward for the next phase of the New Garden Square masterplan, bringing us closer to delivering additional much-needed, high-quality new homes for Edgbaston, with substantial public space next to Edgbaston Village metro station.

“Our partnership working with Calthorpe Estates, the local community, and our investors and stakeholders plus Birmingham City Council will deliver something that is transformational not just for Edgbaston and Birmingham, but also for the wider Midlands region.”
