Parliamentary Advisory Group

The UKREiiF Parliamentary Advisory Group offers a platform for Parliamentarians from both houses and of a range of political persuasions to come together and help guide the development of UKREiiF, ensuring that the key issues of the day are properly considered through forum discussions and events.

Lord Richard Inglewood DL – Chair, Cumbria LEP

Richard Fletcher-Vane, 2nd Baron Inglewood, is a Crossbench (Independent) peer in the House of Lords. A trained Barrister and Surveyor, Lord Inglewood served as a Conservative Minister in John Major’s Government, and now sits as an Independent due to his role as Chair of the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership. He also serves as a member of the NP11 group of northern Local Enterprise Partnerships.

Baroness Wilcox of Newport – Shadow Spokesperson, Wales Office

Lady Wilcox is a trained teacher, former Labour Councillor and ex-Leader of Newport Council. She was made a Life Peer in 2019 and now sits on the Labour benches in the House of Lords as a Shadow Spokesperson for the Wales Office.

Jacob Young – MP for Redcar, and Parliamentary Secretary at the MHCLG

Jacob Young was first elected to the House of Commons representing Redcar on the north Yorkshire coast in 2019, having previously served as a Middlesbrough Councillor. Since his election he has focussed on a range of issues including infrastructure, and he currently is both Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hydrogen and Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Baroness Judith Blake – Shadow Spokesperson, Housing, Communities and Local Government

Baroness Blake of Leeds was appointed as a Labour Party Peer in 2021, having previously served as Leader of Leeds City Council between 2015 and 2021. Soon after her elevation to the Lords she was appointed as a Labour Party whip, and now serves as a Shadow Spokesperson for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Andrew Lewer MBE – MP for Northampton South, and Chair of the APPG for SME Housebuilders

Andrew Lewer is the former Leader of Derbyshire County Council, a former MEP for the East Midlands and has served as Member of Parliament for Northampton South since 2017. He is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Small and Medium Housebuilders and currently serves as a member of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee in the House of Commons.

Gagan Mohindra – MP for South West Hertfordshire, and Chair of the APPG for Regeneration and Development

Gagan attended KCL before spending a few years at a large European Investment Bank in London, before working for his family business including property development leaving in 2015. In his roles as a Councillor, Gagan has “sat” on planning committees and his most recent District Council role was as Chairman of a Planning Committee. At County Council he was Cabinet Member for Economic Development and more recently Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Housing. Gagan was elected as the MP for South West Hertfordshire in December 2019 and founded and is the Chairman of the APPG for Regeneration and Development.

Alex Sobel – MP for Leeds North West, and Chair of the Net Zero APPG

Alex Sobel is the Labour Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, serving in that role since the 2017 General Election. Prior to being elected to the House of Commons, Sobel was a Leeds City Councillor, and he now serves as both Chair of the Net Zero All Party Parliamentary Group and Shadow Minister of State for Tourism and Heritage.
