UKREiiF – Build Back Better

As the United Kingdom emerges from the worst of the COVID pandemic, economic recovery is rapidly moving up the political agenda. This is typified through the Government’s ‘Build Back Better’ agenda.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson

“We must grasp the historic opportunity before us: to learn the lessons of this awful pandemic and build back better, levelling up across our United Kingdom and fixing the problems that have held back too many people for too long.

“Our plan to build back better takes a transformational approach, tackling long-term problems to deliver growth that creates high-quality jobs across the UK and makes the most of the strengths of the Union. We must retain our guiding focus on achieving the people’s priorities: levelling up the whole of the UK, supporting our transition to net zero, and supporting our vision for Global Britain.”

The Government has defined its ‘Build Back Better’ agenda as focused on three main areas

Infrastructure – stimulate economic activity and productivity through record investment into infra including broadband, roads and rail and as part of a £100bn capital spending plan. In addition the Levelling Up Fund, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Towns Fund and High Street Fund will help connect people to opportunities. £12bn of funding for projects through the Green Industrial Revolution Ten Point Plan and the launch of the UK Infrastructure Bank will further accelerate growth.

Skills – driving productivity growth through high-quality skills and training, transforming Further Education through investment and educational reform. The Lifetime Skills Guarantee will allow people to access free fully funded courses whilst a renewed focus on the quality of apprenticeship systems will further enhance the Build Back Better agenda.

Innovation – Government will support and incentivise the development of creative ideas and technologies to shape the UK’s future high-growth, sustainable and secure economy. Access to finance will be unleashed to, with support for start ups and scale ups through programmes such as the British Patient Capital, whilst we look at attracting the brightest and best people to amplify the UK’s international competitiveness and support SME’s to transform the way they do business.

UKREiiF will kickstart the Build Back Better agenda

When developing the UKREiiF agenda, we have worked closely with Government, Parliamentarians and the private sector to make sure our focus supports the Net Zero agenda, as the industry looks to play their role in tackling the climate crisis. To ensure UKREiiF truly drives forward the agenda here are some of the key focuses:

Aiding the UK’s post pandemic recovery – promoting investment across the whole UK

Promoting inclusive and sustainable investment and development

Showcasing and inspiring creative ideas and technologies to shape a future high-growth economy

Panel discussions, debates, roundtables, inspirational talks and more built around Build Back Better

The UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum Annual Event

3-Day Event – 3,000+ Attendees – 250+ Speakers – 100+ Exhibitors – 50+ Fringe Events

The UKREiiF movement will culminate in an annual event – the first of which will be held in the city of Leeds during May 2022. This event will take over the city, creating a vibrant festival feel across the whole of Leeds with inspirational talks, high level speakers and influential attendees.

The event will help enable the UK’s bid to Build Back Better – directly connecting investors, developers, the public sector, funders and end-users to inward investment, creating new relationships and unlocking inclusive economic growth.

The UK needs a platform for the public sector to showcase the scale of development progress and the profile future investment opportunities to investors, developers and occupiers from around the globe that is right here in the UK – and that is the platform UKREiiF provides.
